President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the State Palace on Friday afternoon.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who accompanied his wife Akira Abe arrived at 3 PM local time and immediately was greeted by President Yudhoyono and first lady Ani Yudhoyono.
Previous presidential special staff International relations Teuku Faizasyah said Abe will visit Indonesia for two days from January 18 to January 19, 2013.
“During his visit, Shinzo Abe will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Akie Abe, and a number of delegates. During his stay in Jakarta, Prime Minister of Japan will hold a bilateral meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and attend a state dinner gala event,” said Faizasyah.
In the bilateral meeting, will discuss efforts to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields, with reference to the agreed Strategic Partnership between the two countries in 2006.
Japan is one of the major partners of Indonesia’s economic cooperation, both in the context of trade and investment. Value of bilateral trade in 2011 amounted to US $ 53.1 billion. Meanwhile, until October 2012, bilateral trade value reached US $ 44.85 billion. Japan is Indonesia’s main market in the world.
Value of Japanese investment in 2011 reached US $ 1.51 billion. As of October 2012, total investment reached US $ 1.78 billion.
Faiza looked visit of Prime Minister Abe is one of the efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit.
Several ministers who accompanied the President include Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Minister Djoko Suyanto, Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa, the TNI Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono, National Police Chief Gen. (Pol) Pradopo East, the Army Chief of Staff and a number of other ministers.
