FC Barcelona secured a narrow 1-0 victory over RC Celta de Vigo at the Camp Nou Stadium, with teenage forward Lamine Yamal delivering the decisive moment from the penalty spot in a tightly contested La Liga encounter.

The win reinforces Barcelona’s position at the summit of the Spanish league standings, as the club continues its push for the title with a commanding points advantage over its closest rivals.

Barcelona now sit firmly in first place with 82 points from 32 matches, maintaining a nine-point lead over Real Madrid in the title race. Celta Vigo, meanwhile, remain in seventh position with 44 points, placing them 13 points adrift of the top four and the Champions League qualification places.

The decisive goal came in the first half after sustained pressure from the home side. Yamal, who has emerged as one of Barcelona’s most influential attacking players this season, converted a penalty in the 40th minute after being brought down inside the box by defender Yoel Lago.

The young forward executed the spot-kick with composure, sending the ball beyond goalkeeper Ionut Radu and into the net, giving Barcelona a crucial lead before halftime.

Before the breakthrough, Barcelona had already shown early attacking intent. Yamal created the first notable chance of the match with a long-range effort that went narrowly wide of the Celta Vigo goal. His movement and positioning continued to trouble the visiting defence throughout the opening stages.

Celta Vigo responded with attacking moments of their own. Pablo Duran forced Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia into a save with a well-struck effort as the visitors attempted to shift momentum and test the home side’s defensive structure.

Yamal remained central to Barcelona’s attacking play, continuing to generate opportunities. Another attempt from the winger drifted wide, reflecting both his high involvement and Barcelona’s reliance on his creativity in advanced positions.

The match remained competitive until Barcelona’s penalty breakthrough, after which the home side gradually increased control over possession and tempo. Their midfield dominance limited Celta Vigo’s ability to build sustained attacking sequences.

In the second half, Barcelona continued to dictate proceedings and created further chances. One of the most promising opportunities came from Roony Bardghji, whose shot was ultimately blocked by goalkeeper Radu, preventing the home side from extending their lead.

Celta Vigo attempted to respond with increased attacking urgency but struggled to break through Barcelona’s defensive organisation. The visitors were forced into a more reactive approach as the match progressed.

Barcelona briefly thought they had doubled their advantage when Ferran Torres found the back of the net. However, the goal was disallowed following a Video Assistant Referee review, which ruled the forward offside in the buildup.

Despite the narrow margin, Barcelona maintained control in the closing stages of the match, managing possession effectively and limiting Celta Vigo’s late attempts to equalise. The final whistle confirmed a valuable three points for the Catalan side in their ongoing title campaign.

Yamal’s decisive contribution once again highlighted his growing importance within the squad. His ability to influence matches through both open play and set-piece situations continues to make him a key figure in Barcelona’s attacking structure.

The result also reflects Barcelona’s broader consistency in domestic competition this season, particularly in tightly contested matches where individual moments have proven decisive.

Celta Vigo, despite the defeat, showed periods of competitiveness, especially in transition phases and early counterattacks. However, their inability to convert chances ultimately proved costly against a more efficient Barcelona side.

As the La Liga season progresses, Barcelona’s continued ability to secure narrow victories could prove critical in maintaining their position at the top of the table. The win over Celta Vigo adds another important step in what remains a closely watched title race.
