Apple has officially brought its most affordable laptop, the MacBook Neo, to Indonesia through several Apple Authorized Resellers, including iBox, Blibli, Digimap, and Hello Store on Friday. Consumers can now purchase the device directly in stores where stock is available, without needing to go through a pre-order process.

According to listings on iBox’s official website, the MacBook Neo starts at Rp10,749,000 for the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage configuration. A higher variant with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is priced at around Rp12,999,000, positioning the device as Apple’s most accessible MacBook to date.

The MacBook Neo was first introduced globally in March 2026 as Apple’s new entry-level Mac laptop. It stands out from other MacBook models due to its use of the A18 Pro chip, the same processor family used in iPhone devices, instead of Apple’s traditional M-series chips that power the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineups.

Apple is targeting students, first-time Mac users, and budget-conscious consumers who want a lightweight laptop for everyday use, with the MacBook Neo designed as a gateway into the macOS ecosystem.

The device features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 x 1506 pixels, paired with 8 GB unified memory and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB. Despite its entry-level positioning, Apple continues to maintain premium design standards with a slim and lightweight build similar to the MacBook Air, weighing approximately 1.23 kilograms.

Color options include Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo, giving the device a more consumer-friendly aesthetic compared to the typically minimal MacBook lineup.

In terms of connectivity, the MacBook Neo comes with two USB-C ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6. It also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and runs on macOS Tahoe, Apple’s latest operating system.

With this launch, Apple positions the MacBook Neo as its most affordable Mac option, aimed at casual users and those entering the Mac ecosystem for the first time.

Alongside the MacBook Neo, Apple also officially introduced the MacBook Air M5 to the Indonesian market on the same day. Based on observations from authorized distributors, only the 13-inch model is currently available in Indonesia, despite Apple launching both 13-inch and 15-inch variants globally.

The MacBook Air M5 arrives with configuration options of up to 24 GB RAM and up to 1 TB SSD storage. All models feature a 10-core CPU, while Apple offers two GPU variants: an 8-core GPU and a 10-core GPU depending on configuration.

Available color options include Midnight, Sky Blue, Starlight, Space Grey, and Silver, continuing Apple’s signature minimalist yet premium design approach.

Pricing for the MacBook Air M5 in Indonesia is as follows:
MacBook Air 13-inch M5, 10-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD: Rp20,499,000
MacBook Air 13-inch M5, 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD: Rp23,999,000
MacBook Air 13-inch M5, 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 24 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD: Rp27,499,000

The MacBook Air M5 succeeds the MacBook Air M4 with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence performance, energy efficiency, and expanded storage capabilities. Apple says the new M5 chip delivers significantly improved AI processing power, with performance up to four times faster than the previous generation in AI-related workloads.

The upgrade is designed to support increasingly demanding AI-driven tasks such as 3D rendering, image processing, and running large language models directly on-device without relying heavily on cloud computing.

Storage also receives a notable boost, with the base configuration now starting at 512 GB SSD, doubling the previous entry-level capacity of 256 GB in earlier models.

The MacBook Air M5 features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with up to 500 nits of brightness and support for one billion colors. It retains Apple’s signature notch design housing a 12 MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support for enhanced video conferencing.

Audio performance is also improved, with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support delivering a more immersive listening experience across media consumption and productivity use cases.

Running macOS Tahoe, the MacBook Air M5 integrates Apple Intelligence features, including Live Translation in Messages, AI-based Shortcuts automation, and automatic organization tools in the Reminders app.

Connectivity upgrades include WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while battery life is rated at up to 18 hours on a single charge. The device also retains two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe charging, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, maintaining a balance between modern performance and traditional usability.

With the simultaneous rollout of MacBook Neo and MacBook Air M5, Apple is expanding its laptop strategy in Indonesia across both entry-level affordability and high-performance AI computing, reinforcing its position in a rapidly evolving personal computing market.
