Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has won the Premier League Golden Boot after finishing as the top scorer in the 2025/2026 season, further cementing his status as one of the most prolific forwards in world football.

The Norwegian international scored 27 goals in 35 appearances, enough to secure the Premier League top scorer title ahead of Brentford forward Igor Thiago, who finished second with 22 goals in 38 matches.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo completed the top three scoring chart with 17 goals, marking a strong season for the Ghanaian international in the English top flight.

Haaland was unable to add to his tally in Manchester City’s final Premier League match of the season, a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, after being left out of the squad by manager Pep Guardiola. The City boss opted to rotate his team, fielding several fringe players including Phil Foden and Semenyo.

Despite missing the final opportunity to score, Haaland’s earlier performances throughout the campaign ensured he remained comfortably ahead in the Golden Boot race.

The award marks the third time Haaland has claimed the Premier League Golden Boot since joining English football, having previously won the accolade in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons.

His debut Premier League season in 2022/2023 remains his most remarkable to date, when he scored a record-breaking 36 league goals and played a crucial role in Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign.

That season saw City dominate English and European football, with Haaland at the center of their attacking success under Guardiola’s system.

Since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has consistently been among the most lethal strikers in Europe, combining physical dominance with clinical finishing inside the penalty area.

This latest Golden Boot reinforces his consistency across multiple seasons, highlighting his ability to maintain elite scoring levels despite tactical rotations, injuries, and increased defensive attention from opponents.

Manchester City’s decision to rest Haaland in the final match reflected a broader strategy of squad rotation after a demanding campaign across multiple competitions.

Although City fell short in their final league outing against Aston Villa, the result did not affect Haaland’s position at the top of the scoring charts.

The 27-goal tally once again underlines his importance to Manchester City’s attacking structure, where he remains the focal point of Guardiola’s system.

Football analysts have noted that Haaland’s ability to consistently convert chances in high-pressure matches continues to separate him from many of his peers in the Premier League.

His movement, strength, and finishing ability have made him one of the most feared strikers in modern football, with defenders often requiring multiple markers to contain him inside the box.

Winning three Golden Boots in such a short span places Haaland among an elite group of Premier League forwards who have dominated the scoring charts across consecutive seasons.

As Manchester City continue to compete for domestic and European honors, Haaland’s form will remain central to their ambitions in the seasons ahead.

With his latest Golden Boot secured, the Norwegian striker continues to build a legacy as one of the most dominant goal scorers in Premier League history, with expectations high that more records could follow in the coming years.
