Veda Ega Pratama was forced to retire from the Moto3 race at the Circuit of the Americas, Texas, on Sunday local time after suffering a crash in the early stages.
The Honda Team Asia rider had started strongly but was unable to finish the race following a costly mistake.
Veda began the race from fourth position after delivering a competitive performance in qualifying, placing him among the front runners heading into the United States round.
At the start, he was involved in close battles with fellow rookies Casey O’Gorman and Joel Esteban.
After dropping to eighth position in the opening laps, Veda showed strong pace to recover positions and even set the fastest lap on Lap 4.
However, his race took a dramatic turn one lap later.
Exiting Turn 11, Veda lost control of his bike in a highside crash. Esteban, who was following closely behind, was unable to avoid the incident.
The crash ended Veda’s race prematurely, cutting short what had been a promising performance.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by rookie riders adapting to the intensity of Moto3 competition.
At the front, Guido Pini of Leopard Racing secured victory in the Moto3 United States race.
Second place went to Maximo Quiles, while Alvaro Carpe completed the podium in third.
Top five rounded out in competitive race
Fourth position was claimed by Valentin Perrone, followed by Adrian Fernandez in fifth place.
While the result was disappointing, Veda’s pace during the early laps showed encouraging signs for the rest of the season.
The Indonesian rider will now aim to bounce back in the upcoming rounds as he continues his debut campaign in Moto3.
